In Tarneit roads are managed by either the Wyndham City Council or by the Department of Transport and Planning.
Repeated flooding and above-average rainfall caused unprecedented damage to our roads which meant we needed to pause resurfacing and focus on rebuilding and strengthening damaged roads - now this work is complete, resurfacing levels will significantly increase during the upcoming maintenance season.
We’re continuing this important work, along with increased road resurfacing, thanks to this year's $964 million investment in road maintenance.
Maintenance experts from the Department of Transport and Planning are now finalising a program of works for the upcoming maintenance season, utilising the 2024/25 Victorian State Budget investment of more than $964 million towards maintaining Victoria’s road assets. This program will include increased road resurfacing works.
The Allan Labor Government is investing $6.7 billion into the maintenance of our road assets over 10 years, as part of a multi-year funding approach which means we can plan long-term and deliver works strategically across the state. This funding commitment allows us to mitigate future risks in advance rather than waiting for funding certainty, meaning we are more efficient with our spend.
Most importantly, it means Victoria’s road network will be equipped to handle growing traffic volumes and will continue to connect people and freight to where they need to be safely and efficiently.
The Allan Labor Government is continuing to deliver for Melbourne’s west with two new train stations and planning upgrades for a third – improving safety, accessibility and better connecting locals for years to come.
